Obituary

Ada Mae Easter was born May 6, 1945, in Hopewell, VA to Samuel S. and Lula B. Bennett. She was educated in the Hopewell School System. From there, she met the love of her life, Clarence J.L. Easter and was blessed with seven beautiful children. She was preceded in death by her baby boy, Alvin Lee; her parents; Samuel and Lula Bennett; sisters, Rachel Armstrong and Joann Hines; and her brother, Samuel Bennett.

Ada lived a beautiful life. Her devotion to her family was built on love and joy. She enjoyed being a homemaker until her youngest child was in school and old enough to be left with her older children. Ada then started to work outside of the home, being employed at Carter G. Woodson Middle School where she joined her mother-in-law, Gertrude Easter in employment. According to her, this was her way of keeping an eye on us as we maneuvered through the school system.

Ada continued to work at Carter G. Woodson Middle School for many years and met wonderful people who became great friends. This is where she met Shirley Allen, whom she considered to be more like a sister. Also, close and dear to her heart were John and Shirley Randall whom she shared great memories with.

Some of Ada's hobbies included writing poetry, crocheting, puzzling and cooking. One of her greatest joys was listening to music, singing, dancing and entertaining family and friends. Many that crossed her path always remember her vibrant and infectious smile. I don't believe that she's ever met a stranger. She welcomed everyone with open arms and without judgement.

Ada had a kind spirit that allowed her to love and be loved unconditionally. She will leave an empty void in her family's life, but also the wonderful memories of her presence will live on through them.

Ada leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Clarence "Tub Gator"; sons, Alonzo (Maria), Tony (Frances) and Steven (Barbara); daughters, Sharon (Howard), Barbara Lynn (Andre) and Renee (Chuck); grandchildren, Daphne Easter, Da'Sean Easter, Clarissa Lee, Andre “AJ” Tyler, Jr., Travis Easter, Howard “Bear” Warren, Jr. Kala Easter, Jacoby Easter, Breanna Crawley, Tamara Roberts and Aniyah Pope; great grandchildren, Aaliyah Easter, Da'Sean Easter, Jr., Malik Tyler, Diamond Easter, Jada Harris, Cory Harris, Kimora Roberts and Ziyah Easter, Kenneth Ricks, Jr., Kendall Ricks, Khloe Ricks, Kameron Ricks and Kimora Ricks. Ada also leaves loving sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bennett, Eleanor Jackson, Mandy Kelly, Shirley Backus, Magnolia Easter and Annie R. Weeks; and a host of nieces and nephews, honorary niece, Donna Armstrong; and too many friends to name, but cherishes them all.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 401 North 2nd Avenue, Hopewell, VA, Elder Dominic Holloway, eulogist. The interment to follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
